  • Where to Stay +

With the above in mind, we suggest you first make sure in which of these areas in London you should base your self before going any further and simply book accommodation based on a hotel that seems to fit your fancy.

As with any other international holiday destination your immediate environment will have a significant impact on your overall experience. It is therefore imperative to first do a little digging, identify the area where you will be closest to attractions most important to you and then search for the best accommodation deals in that area.

If you are are an art or history lover who like to wonder around museums and century old buildings you do not necessarily want to be in the centre of the nightlife district.

Similarly you might also want to be close to public transport, because an interesting fact to note is that access to many tourist sights are easier from areas where cheaper accommodation are located than areas with 5 star hotels.

  • Popular Tourist Areas +

The first thing to be said is that the city does not have a best or bad area. Where to stay will ultimately be determined by your own preferences. However, most popular tourist areas are located in the west-end which include Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Mayfair and Piccadilly.

These central city areas feature many luxury venues, is close to the nightlife scene and theaters. The latter, Mayfair and Piccadilly is where you can shop for expensive brand names.

In Bloomsbury you are more likely to find hotels with lower rates than in the West End, it is central and you can easily take a leisurely stroll to the west end.

Country Hall is close to the famous London Eye Ferris wheel on the banks of the river Themes and is a great area for sightseeing, as is the Victoria area which is also a primary transport base. If you're hunting for cheap accommodation prices, Kings Cross is your best bet and this does not mean the area has not many top-end places to stay.
